About The Task Force

The Far Rockaway Trauma Healthcare Access Task Force was formed to explore opportunities to improve and expand trauma healthcare in the Rockaway community. The Rockaways have long been deprived of a trauma care center, which means residents in critical need must travel miles beyond the community to obtain care. Chaired by New York City Council Member Selvena N. Brooks-Powers and New York City Health and Hospitals President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mitchell Katz, the Task Force convenes community leaders each month to discuss how we can ensure trauma care is reliable and accessible for Rockaway residents.
